Finding your deep core muscles provides a deeper level of strength and a greater sense of body awareness. Feel leaner and stronger and change the way your train your abdominals forever!

Sue Dumais' book A Strong Core for Life  is now available at www.familypassages.ca or online at Chapters and Amazon!

With over 250 photos this book is a great resource and exercise reference for everyone. There is a special women's section for pre/post natal, menstrual health and fertility in relation to core training as well as a sample program section for low back pain, incontinence, balance, beginner, intermediate, advance levels and more.

We rely on our body everyday as we pick up our children, play sports, vacuum or exercise.  Without the support of a strong core, something as simple as lifting the groceries from the trunk of the car could cause you to throw your back out, leaving you in extreme pain and lying on your back for weeks.  A fall on your tailbone or a back injury can create imbalances in your muscles and skeletal system resulting in chronic pain. Pregnancy can cause weakening or stretching of the pelvic floor muscles resulting in urinary incontinence. There are so many factors that can affect your ability to stabilize your back and pelvis. Your core is like the foundation of your body.  If your foundation is weak you become more susceptible to injury and pain.  You need a strong core to protect you.  You need the muscles of your core to be active, strong and supportive.

" Why sit-ups aren't enough to get rid of abdominal fat"

There is no such thing as spot reducing.
You can do 500 sit-ups a day and you will never eliminate the fat above the muscle. Cardiovascular exercise will produce overall body fat loss. Unfortunately, your body will lose fat where it chooses. You have no control over where you lose the fat first.

Did you know that the hormones released when you are stressed will break down muscle and increase fat deposits in your abdominal area?  Find out more in my workshop:

Wired & Tired? Creating your own Stress Management Program

The next A Strong Core for Life Workshop is on Sunday Jan 27th or April 6th, 2008.
